Collaboration is central to my research. I work with academic colleagues, learners and graduates, practitioners, employers, and policymakers to connect scholarship with educational and social change.
Trinity Centre for People with Intellectual Disabilities
As Director of TCPID, I provide leadership for research and innovation in inclusive higher education and pathways to employment. The Centre connects educational provision, research, professional expertise, and business partnerships, creating opportunities to investigate and improve inclusive practice.
INCLUDE-ID
I lead the HEA-funded INCLUDE-ID project. The network connects higher-education practitioners through collaborative research, guidance materials, and workshops concerning provision for learners with intellectual disabilities. My contribution links research leadership with shared learning about access, participation, belonging, and progression.

Inclusive National Higher Education Forum (INHEF)
Through my TCPID leadership, I contribute to INHEF’s work on inclusive post-secondary opportunities. INHEF brings providers and other professionals together for consultation, capacity building, and policy discussion about access routes for learners with intellectual disabilities.
European and International Collaboration
I contribute to international scholarship and networks in inclusive education, psychology, disability, and career development. Recent activity includes collaboration on building inclusive higher education systems and the 2026 ECADOC Summer School at Trinity with COST Action CA23112.
My forthcoming Oxford Handbook chapter on building inclusive higher education systems brings together Des Aston, Meg Grigal, Lyman L. Dukes III, and me. It connects Irish and US perspectives on sustainable access and participation for students with intellectual disabilities.

Inclusion in Education and Society Research Group
From 2011 to 2024, I served as Co-Convenor and subsequently Convenor of the Inclusion in Education and Society (IES) research group in Trinity’s School of Education. I supported interdisciplinary collaboration, research development, funding bids, scholarly exchange, mentoring, and publication across inclusion, disability, equity, participation, and belonging.
Research Partnerships and Mentoring
